The Lochgelly Community Development Forum is a registered Scottish Charity (SCO31878) which is managed by a very active voluntary group made up from individuals from the local community. The Lochgelly Community Development Forum are actively involved in the local community, from developing local initiatives and projects to providing support to other local non profits and individuals. The majority of our members participate in various projects directly and indirectly connected to the LCDF.
Social AIms & Objectives - The purpose of the Lochgelly Community Develppment Forum charity is to promote, operate and establish schemes for the benefit of the local community. We achieve this by working with local groups, the local authority, and individuals within the Lochgelly area to raise awareness of local planning issues, develop new projects, support community initiatives and help the positive regeneration of the Lochgelly area.
Planning & management of Gala and associated fund raising events. Sourcing funding. Engaging and networking with other individuals, community based groups and local businesses.
Supporting woman in the local community through provision of events and activities that help foster a close network of individuals that provide each other support within the local community.
Management of a locally based charity shop which provides volunteering and employment opportunities within the local area. Encourages the re-use/recycle of items for the benefit of others whilst supporting low-income households. Helps the sustainability of Lochgelly Community Development Forum. Surplus profits are re-invested into the charity and donated to externally based community groups.
Working in partnership with many individuals, public bodies and community groups to help the planning and management of the Chrsitmas Lights switch-on which includes a street parade and further events at Lochgelly Town House. Display of christmas lights throughout the main thoroughfare in Lochgelly. Fundraising to support the ongoing development of the christmas lights
Provison of office space and access to facilities to allow Benarty Credit Union operate a drop-in point in the Lochgelly area. Staff volunteered time to managethe Lochgelly branch for Benarty Credit Union.
Engaged and networked with residents, businesses and community groups to help create a Community Action Plan for the Lochgelly area in partnership with Fife Council, volunteers and other community groups that served on the steering committee. The plan produced is to help shape local policy for the next five years, up-to 2021.
Formed by residents in response to actions contained within the Lochgelly Community Action Plan. We provide office support, advice and guidance, access to facilities (office equipment, facilities, etc.)
Provision of a community based magazine that was distributed to every home in Lochgelly which provided data to residents about local events, community news (planning, consultations, etc.), and promoted the local area.
